I prepare the application, check that the right exemption is claimed, and make sure the documents the district asks for are attached before it goes in. If the district kicks the form back, I handle the correction. For late homestead and related exemption applications, Texas generally allows a limited lookback. I file the late application and follow up with the appraisal district and tax office so any refund they approve gets processed.
What the fee covers
Eligibility review for homestead, over-65, disability, veteran, and agricultural valuation
Completed application and supporting documents
Submission follow-up and correction of district requests
Late-application filing and refund follow-up when a prior year can still be claimed
You are paying for my time and the work of getting the paperwork right. You are not paying a fee to the county, and you are not paying for the exemption itself.
Fee: $50 per application for preparation and follow-up
